BVR Mohan Reddy is an Indian business executive and engineering manager who is the founder and managing director of Cyient, (formerly Infotech Enterprises). He joined DCM Group in 1974, and has worked subsequently with MICO Bosch, HCL, and OMC Computers Limited. Mohan holds a graduate degree in mechanical engineering from the College of Engineering, Kakinada, India, and postgraduate degrees from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur and the University of Michigan. Mohan founded Cyient as Infotech Enterprises in 1991, and he currently serves as the Executive Chairman of the company.

Even when IT Enabled Services (ITES) was yet to be known as such, Mohan pioneered computer-aided design/computer-aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM) solutions serving international clients. Today, with 13000+ employees across 38 locations worldwide, Cyient is one of the largest independent Service Partners of high-value R&D services from India. He has been a member of the NASSCOM Executive Council since 2003 and served as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), southern region (2008-2009).

Mohan was elected as Chairman, NASSCOM in April 2015. This is the first time that an engineering services industry veteran has been selected for this prestigious position—a move seen by many industry watchers as very timely with the Government of India going ahead full throttle on its “Make in India” campaign. Mohan, among other accolades, has been a frontrunner in reinforcing the “Engineered in India” brand, and providing design engineering services to global companies, including Boeing, Airbus, Pratt & Whitney, Bombardier, Philips, Siemens and Westinghouse.

He has served as the Chairman of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Southern Region (2008-2009). He is associated with councils of various academic and BVR Mohan Reddy Founder & Executive Chairman, Cyient Ltd. industry forums and has led several initiatives benefitting industrial companies. He was appointed as a Director on the Board of National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC), and Member of Court of Governors of Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI). Recently, Mohan was appointed as Honorary Consul of the Federal Republic of Germany for the states of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He is also the Chairman, Board of Governors of IIT, Hyderabad.

Mohan was honored with the prestigious American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) Leadership Award in 2011 for outstanding leadership in advancing the use of computers and information in engineering. It is the industry’s most prestigious global award for engineering, and he was the first Indian and the seventh recipient globally. In recognition of his leadership in expanding the US-India trade partnerships, the US Department of Commerce presented Mohan with a Certificate of Appreciation.

Cyient helped establish the ‘Engineered in India’ brand with global manufacturing companies. The Boeing Company recognized Cyient with the prestigious ‘Supplier of the Year’ award twice in the last three years (2010 and 2012). This award is presented to 12 outstanding suppliers every year from a pool of 25,000+ suppliers who work for Boeing globally. TIME Magazine has named Pratt & Whitney's PurePower® aircraft engine as one of "The 50 Best Inventions of 2011," describing it as "the most important development in aviation in 2011”. Cyient made considerable contribution (~25% of design and innovation) in developing PurePower® engine. Cyient participated in modernization of London Underground for 2012 Olympics. This effort resulted in 30% more passenger movement through London Tube system without additional infrastructure. Closer to home, Cyient designed the trains for the Delhi metro through Bombardier Transportation and the signaling systems for a number of upcoming metro projects. Cyient also helped North Delhi Power (now Tata Power) design and maintain the power distribution network that provides uninterrupted power to much of New Delhi.

Mohan Reddy’s dedicated commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has made an indelible mark on the lives of many individuals and is an acknowledged contributor to community, state and nation. For over five years, over 1% of Cyient's annual net profits are spent on charitable causes through the Cyient Foundation. Mohan Reddy through Cyient has also created an endowment of Rs. 2.5 Crores for “Eye Care Research” at LVPEI. Cyient continues to contribute to inclusive growth of India by setting up development centers in Tier-2 towns of Andhra Pradesh such as Visakhapatnam and Kakinada and has created over 1,000 technology jobs in Kakinada alone. As part of its Adopt-a-School initiative, the Cyient Foundation has adopted 14 government primary schools and provides financial, infrastructure, and social support to more than 10,000 underprivileged children. It also focuses on promoting digital literacy in India and has established 54 Cyient Digital Centers (CDCs) aimed to empower more than 20,000 children and 50,000 community members.
