Guy Mercier is the Managing Director of EUROPCAR Financial shared services in Portugal (at interim) since 2020. Since 2018 he has been the Partner of Axelleworth Associates Ltda and Senior Strategic Advisor for Shared Services Organizations and GBS projects with Quintes Global for Asia and South Pacific and with Eurogroup Consulting in Portugal. In his professional career, he has held several manager positions in Finance, HR and IT at SOLVAY (Senior Executive Vice-President at Solvay Business Services; Vice-President Finance and IT at Solvay Pharmaceuticals Ltd in Marietta, USA; Vice-President Finance & Administration at Solvay Polymers Ltd Houston, USA; Managing Director at Solvay 3S Shared Service Center in Lisbon Portugal 1987-1990: He is the Founder and Managing Director of Les Ateliers Informatiques in Brussels, start-up company specialized in training and development of Management Information Systems mainly in Finance (SAP R2, R3). He has also been a freelance Consultant in financial controlling and planning for SONATRACH (Algiers) and started his career as a Financial Analyst and AI Software Developer for SOBEMAP Societe Belge d’Economie et de Mathematiques Appliquees (Brussels).
His competencies include: Global strategic and operating leadership and coaching in shared services industry (GBS, End-to-End processes, RPA, Digital transformation); Business Modeling and Processes Redesign (BPM, Lean Six sigma, ISO, DRP, Design thinking); Robotics, Analytics, Dashboard and Management of Information Systems (around SAP); and Multicultural Collaborative and agile Eco-Systems Development (7 years in North Africa, 8 in USA, 12 years in Portugal).
He is a Chemical & Physics Engineer from Solvay Business School (Brussels University Ingenieur grande ecole de commerce Solvay) and an MBA from Brussels University (“cum laude” specialized in econometry and statistical modelling applied to the economy).
He has been a Speaker at Management Center Europe Institute for Treasury Management program; Co-chairman of the European Conference Board Shared Services Council; International speaker at the Deloitte & Touche European conferences on shared services; Member of the Royal Belgian Cultural Club “Le Gaulois” Park Royal Brussels; and International guest speaker at NOVA School of Business & Economics for lecture at their Master Program in Economy & Finance.
